Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator manages the accurate and timely movement of materials, components, and finished goods within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role verifies and documents all incoming and outgoing shipments, supports production control activities, and performs local deliveries and pickups using a company vehicle. The coordinator ensures inventory accuracy, maintains compliance with shipping documentation requirements, and upholds high standards of safety, organization, and communication.

Responsibilities

• Verify and keep accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring completeness and accuracy of documentation.
• Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Prepare items for shipment by attaching labels, packaging products appropriately, and ensuring shipments meet required specifications.
• Support the shipment of goods produced by coordinating with production control and other departments to meet schedules and customer requirements.
• Perform packaging and shipping duties, including inventory stocking and picking, in support of the production control group.
• Drive the company van to deliver and pick up materials and products from local suppliers in a safe and timely manner.
• Maintain accurate inventory records by reading and interpreting pick tickets and other inventory documents and recording counts and movements.
• Ensure accurate counting, measurement, and associated recordkeeping for all materials handled.
• Use ERP or MRP systems, as applicable, to support production control, inventory management, and shipping documentation.
• Examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications and quality requirements before release.
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, following prescribed safety regulations and housekeeping standards.
• Communicate professionally in English, both in writing and verbally, to coordinate with internal teams, suppliers, and logistics partners.
• Ensure all driving activities comply with safe driving practices and company and insurance requirements.
• Follow all facility safety policies, including proper use of equipment such as forklifts once certified.
• Perform other shipping, receiving, inventory, and logistics duties as assigned to support overall operations.

Essential Skills

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable, safe driving record that meets insurance requirements.
• Ability to maintain a clean driving record and adhere to safe driving practices while operating a company vehicle.
• Ability to read and accurately interpret pick tickets, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and similar inventory documents.
• Strong attention to detail with demonstrated ability to perform accurate counting, measuring, and recordkeeping.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Consistently legible handwriting in English for documentation and recordkeeping.
• Experience in shipping and receiving operations.
• Experience as a driver handling local deliveries and pickups.
• Ability to verify shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and matching them to associated documentation.
• Ability to examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
• Capability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with safety regulations.
• Physical ability to regularly stand and walk throughout the facility and stand for long periods to perform job duties.
• Physical ability to regularly lift, carry short distances, and push or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to frequently bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel to perform material handling tasks.
• Ability to accurately distinguish colors, letters, and numbers for labeling, documentation, and inventory purposes.
• Visual acuity sufficient to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devices used in the work environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Forklift experience is preferred; willingness and ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification upon hire.
• Experience with ERP systems is preferred for supporting inventory, production control, and shipping processes.
• Experience with production control, including coordination with MRP systems and purchase orders.
• Experince in logistics, inventory management, and shipping and receiving within a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes is beneficial.
• Ability to support a production control group by performing packaging, shipping, inventory stocking, and picking tasks.
• Comfort working with MRP systems, purchase orders, and related production documentation.

Work Environment

This role operates within an aerospace manufacturing facility that emphasizes safety, precision, and adherence to established procedures. The position requires regular standing and walking throughout the facility, including standing for extended periods to perform job duties at workstations or in shipping and receiving areas. Employees regularly lift, carry over short distances, and push or pull up to 50 pounds, and frequently bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel to handle materials and products. The environment requires the ability to accurately distinguish colors, letters, and numbers for labeling, documentation, and inventory control, as well as sufficient visual acuity to read gauges and other measuring devices. Work may involve the use of material handling equipment, including forklifts once certified, and operation of a company vehicle for local deliveries and pickups. The facility maintains a clean and orderly workspace, with clear safety regulations and guidelines that employees are expected to follow at all times.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
