Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Tele unit position requiring a TX or compact RN license and 18+ months of recent Med/Tele experience.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a 25 bed Med/Tele unit
• Rural hospital that relies heavily on traveling nurses
• Patient population includes CHF, diabetes, PNA, CKD, and med/surg telemetry diagnoses
• Patient ratios of 5-6:1
• PCTs present on the unit at a 12:1 ratio
• Tele monitor techs available but RNs must be able to read telemetry strips
• Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators available for support
• Uses Cpap, Bipap, and high flow oxygen equipment for respiratory patients
• Currently charts in Paragon, transitioning to EPIC on 10/30/2026
• 12-hour night shifts from 6:30pm-7am
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• No call or standby requirements
• Scheduling is set by the manager and block scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Floating required to all med/surg units and possibly to PCU for tele holds prior to transfer
• Navy blue scrub color required

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required
• BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele experience required
• Rural hospital experience preferred
• Strong communication and time management skills required
• Must be able to accurately read telemetry strips

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Tele unit within a community-focused rural hospital
• Department orientation includes 2 shadow/orientation shifts
• Staff continuity can be limited due to reliance on travelers, so a strong team player mentality is valued
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
