Material Handler

We are currently seeking a dependable and safety-focused Material Handler for a steel manufacturing facility located in Hammond, IN. This role involves manual handling of steel materials, requiring physical strength, accuracy, and basic mathematical skills to ensure materials are processed and staged correctly.

Key Responsibilities

• Manually load, unload, move, and stage steel materials
• Accurately measure, count, and verify materials using basic math skills
• Read and follow work orders, packing slips, and inventory documents
• Perform heavy lifting and repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies
• Support shipping, receiving, and production operations as needed

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse, manufacturing, or steel industry experience preferred
• Ability to perform heavy lifting (50+ lbs) on a regular basis
• Basic mathematical skills required (counting, measuring, verifying quantities)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• Ability to work in an industrial steel environment

Pay Rate: $19/hour (Temp-to-Hire Incentives)

Location: Hammond, Illinois

Shift: 1st Shift, 2nd Shift, 3rd Shift (Currently training on 1st shift)
