Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Responsibilities Teach individuals how to complete tasks. Assist with daily living activities such as housekeeping, meal and menu prep, grocery shopping, and day‑to‑day finances. Assist with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, toileting and positioning. Provide transportation to delegated activities, such as doctor appointments, community outings, shopping and vacations. Document and administer medication and other health‑related tasks. Report to the supervisor any suspected medical needs, abuse, neglect, or health and safety concerns. Build a trusting relationship with the individuals served, often becoming a supportive friend or a part of an extended family. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. 18 years of age or older. Valid driver’s license with less than six points. Reliable transportation with proof of state minimum auto insurance; most positions require the use of a personal automobile during work hours.
