Refrigeration technician

A leading food manufacturing facility in South Atlanta is seeking an experienced Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to join the maintenance team. This role requires 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial ammonia refrigeration systems specifically within a high-volume food production plant.

The ideal candidate will be a technical expert capable of managing compressors, condensers, evaporators, and complex plant utility systems.

salary: $75,000 - $80,000 per year
shift: Second
work hours: 3 PM - 12 AM
education: No Degree Required

Responsibilities

• Execute routine operation, preventative maintenance (PM), and predictive maintenance on industrial ammonia refrigeration equipment (including compressors, evaporators, condensers, and pumps).
• Work strictly within the guidelines of the facility's Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Programs (RMP). Monitor and test ammonia and fire suppression alarms in compliance with local and federal regulations.
• Perform sensory inspections (visual, auditory, and olfactory) for system leaks or malfunctions. Accurately document critical pressure, temperature, and fluid levels in daily logs.
• Diagnose mechanical, plumbing, and electrical faults on master refrigeration control systems. Complete corrective work orders cleanly and promptly.
• Assist production mechanics on utility-related maintenance across aseptic, retort, or packaging lines. Provide emergency response support for any hazardous chemical or ammonia leak situations

• manual lifting up to 50lbs
• standing for 8 hours at one time
• working up to 5 hrs of overtime per week
