Pharmacy Manager

Within our Retail locations, the Pharmacy Manager cultivates a culture of excellence by acting as a role model, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. The Pharmacy Manager leads and develops the pharmacy team to provide exceptional patient care, promotes best practices, leads through change, supports novel program awareness, onboard new hires, and recognizes colleagues for their success. Responsibilities Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices Overseeing the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthening pharmacy performance measures through coaching and consistent follow‑up Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the team to do the same, collaborating with the patient's health team, and proactively resolving insurance and medication issues Proactively offering and delivering immunizations, identifying, engaging, and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize Managing pharmacy inventory by coaching to follow best practices, focusing on protecting cold‑chain products Conducting new Technician and Pharmacist onboarding for the store and district, ensuring trainees complete required training and licensure on time Ensuring pharmacy operations comply with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues to the Rx DL as needed Partnering with the Store Manager to maintain a talent pipeline of cross‑trained colleagues ready for pharmacy work, ensuring timely completion of training for licensure Overseeing Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists, managing performance through direct observation, feedback, and annual reviews Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs, writing or delegating the pharmacy schedule Reviewing business reporting for operational insights, developing action plans to close gaps in workflow, service, patient care, and compliance Establishing a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion so the team feels valued and can give feedback Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills, seeking opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients Supporting access to care and improving patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception, etc.) where permissible Understanding and complying with all federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; following CVS Health policies to protect patient safety, privacy, and a safe workplace Essential Functions Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe Attention and Focus Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy Customer Service and Team Orientation Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner Notice and understand patients' reactions, and respond appropriately Communication Skills Use and understand verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues Utilize active listening, give full attention, ask questions appropriately, and avoid inappropriate interruptions Mathematical Reasoning Use math to solve problems such as determining the total number of tablets, day’s supply, and bottles needed to fill a prescription Problem Resolution Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action among multiple options Physical Demands Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods Lift, scan, and bag items Reach overhead; stretch or reach with arms and/or legs to grasp items Move fingers repetitively; work primarily with fingers rather than whole hands or arms Extend hand(s) and arm(s) in multiple directions to place, move, or lift items Control precision; quickly adjust machines to exact positions Stoop to a considerable degree, requiring full use of lower extremities and back muscles Close visual acuity to perform activities such as transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and reading small parts Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. and/or exerting up to 20 lbs. of force; frequent lifting up to 10 lbs. and/or exerting 10 lbs. of force; consistent lifting with negligible force to move objects Express or exchange ideas via spoken word where detailed or important instructions must be conveyed accurately Receive detailed information through oral communication Team Management and Leadership Lead by example and set a positive tone for the team Delegate tasks, empower team members, and foster a collaborative work environment Motivate and inspire team members to adhere to standards and achieve high performance Apply problem‑solving skills to address challenges and find innovative solutions Adaptability and accountability to navigate changing circumstances and take ownership Coach, reinforce, encourage, provide feedback to, discipline, and/or terminate pharmacy team members Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located Active National Provider Identifier (NPI) Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list 1‑2 years of experience as a Pharmacist Preferred Qualifications Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM‑EL) program 3‑5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business need Work Hours and Time Type Anticipated Weekly Hours: 40 Time Type: Full time Pay Range $65.00 - $85.00 per hour/annual salary (base pay). The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors. The position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range.
