This role focuses on receiving materials, maintaining traceability, and operating shear equipment with precision and safety. What You'll Do Receive and inspect incoming materials for conformity, accuracy, and proper identification Maintain full material traceability including chemical and physical analysis records Manage inventory for all incoming materials with accurate documentation and organization Operate shear machines, rerollers, and related metal?processing equipment safely and efficiently Prioritize multiple jobs to meet production schedules and customer requirements Follow ISO & AS9100D standards and adhere to detailed work instructions Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to understand job specifications Use measuring tools such as tape measures and precision instruments to verify tolerances Apply shop math including calculations with tolerances like 0.005 Troubleshoot basic machine issues to maintain smooth production flow Enter data and track inventory using basic computer systems Lift up to 50 lbs as part of daily material handling Collaborate with production teams to support workflow, safety, and continuous improvement Essential Skills Shear machine operation in metal manufacturing General machine operation in production environments Shipping & receiving experience including material tracking Blueprint interpretation Precision measuring tool proficiency ISO/AS9100D compliance Shop math competency including 0.005 tolerances Basic computer skills Troubleshooting ability Ability to lift 50 lbs ITAR eligibility Preferred Experience Sheet metal manufacturing Shear presses & metal forming equipment Inventory control & traceability Working with documented quality systems High attention to detail Strong safety and reliability Why Work Here Union environment with predictable raises and structured progression Average tenure of 17 years employees build long?term careers Comprehensive benefits: 401(k) with match, health insurance, life insurance, EAP, PTO that increases with tenure Regular facility investments new machines and expanded production spaces every few years Family?oriented culture with holiday gifts, parties, pizza events, and team celebrations Work Environment Unionized metal manufacturing facility with multi?shift operations First?shift training (12 months), then transition to second shift with differential Frequent operation of shear machines, rerollers, and metal?processing equipment Strong emphasis on ISO/AS9100D quality standards, traceability, and safety Use of handheld measuring tools, tape measures, and basic computer systems Collaborative, production?focused culture with ongoing facility expansions Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
