Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance TechnicianDepartment: MaintenanceReports to: Maintenance ManagerFLSA Status: Non-ExemptSafety Sensitive Position: YesSummary:Responsible for performing preventive and repair maintenance work on production machinery to ensure the continuous production of high-quality film while maintaining all safety work standards.Essential Job Functions:The ability to work safely using required PPE, as well as ensuring all production equipment is in a safe working mannerMust be able to work safely and follow all work instructions, safety rules, and policiesMulti-Craft technician with the objective of continuous improvement in areas including safety, quality, and productionAbility to work as an “on call” technician in a rotationAbility to work overtime with little or no notice depending on machine unplanned eventsWilling and able to assist in breakdowns and repairs including pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical applications as neededWilling and capable of working on more advanced technical applicationsWilling and capable of installing equipment and any utilities needed for equipment, including conduit bending and wire pullingWilling to work on projects assigned by the Plant Maintenance ManagerMust be driven and show initiative to start tasks without being toldFollow all inventory control guidelines and inventory management proceduresWilling to train fellow team membersComplete electrical safety training New Hire Checklist (FCD-00382)Safety Commitment:Takes reasonable care for their own health and safetyTakes reasonable care for the health and safety of othersAuthorized to stop work when a perceived unsafe condition or behavior may result in an unwanted eventUnderstands and actively participates in the company’s EHS policy, goals, and objectivesQualifications and Requirements:Must possess a strong knowledge of electricity and electrical troubleshooting to include single and three phase applicationsMust possess knowledge of OSHA standards and NEC guidelines in compliance with NFPA 70Working knowledge of all plant production equipmentMust be able to read and troubleshoot using electrical and mechanical schematicsWorking knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC programming protocols to include software for ControlLogix 5000, SLC 500, and PLC 5 programmable controllersWorking knowledge of drive systems and drive system software.Knowledge of AC and DC motor systems including VFD control and troubleshootingMust possess an above average knowledge of mechanical systems including gearbox maintenance, vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and motor/gearbox/pulley alignment standardsMust possess practical and working knowledge of all utility systems including chilled water, compressed air, nitrogen generation, and electrical supply switchgearsEssential Physical Requirements:The employee in this job is required to exert 50 pounds of force occasionally (less than 1/3 of time); and up to 35 pounds of force frequently (more than 1/3 of the total time); if over 50 lbs., requires a team lift or mechanical aid such as a roll lift or forkliftMust be able to stand, sit and walk up to 100% of work dayMust be able to bend, twist, and rotate body up to 100% of workdayReaching with hands and arms for as much as 100% of workdayTalking to communicate with others for as much as 100% of workdayHearing to communicate with others and respond to manufacturing and PIT equipment soundsUsing arms to grasp, handle, lift, carry, pull push, and reach for as much as 75% of workdayWalking to operate production machines and to package and palletize finished productWork Environment: This position requires that the employee be able to work:Outdoors - 1/3 of the time or lessNear moving mechanical parts - Over 2/3 of the timeHigh or precarious places - 1/3 of the time or lessNear electrical components - 1/3 of the time or lessNear vibrating equipment and tools - 1/3 of the time or lessFumes from equipment or airborne particles - 1/3 of the time or lessToxic or caustic chemicals - 1/3 of the time or lessExtreme heat (non-weather) - 1/3 of the time or lessExtreme cold (non-weather) - NoneWet or humid conditions (non-weather) - 1/3 of the time or lessLoud environments (equipment operation) - 1/3 of the time or lessLanguage Skills:Must be able to read and write in EnglishEducation and Experience:Industrial Maintenance Certificate or Technical School degreeMinimum 5 years proven job experienceKnowledge & Understanding of Lock Out/Tag Out proceduresProficient in computer knowledge such as Microsoft Word and ExcelAbility to read, write and speak English proficientlyNote: This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee holding this position.Our ExpectationsWe expect our people to be guided by The Amcor Way and demonstrate our Values every day to enable the business to win.
