Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified registered nurse for a 3x12-hour day shift position in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Short Stay area. This role requires floating between recovery room and short stay areas, with expected patient ratios of 1:2-3.

Job Details

• Shift: 07:00 - 19:00
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 1 shift in Recovery and 2 shifts in Short Stay
• On-Call Requirement: Yes, 1 night per week and 1 weekend per 4-week schedule
• Weekend Requirement: Required only when on call
• Floating: Yes, may float to other units based on skill set

Facility Information

This is a short-term acute care facility with a total of 59 staff beds. The facility is a teaching hospital and does not charge for parking. Scrubs of any color are acceptable, while specific departments are provided with scrubs.

Patient Care Details

• Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics
• Daily Census: Approximately 10 patients
• Unit Features: Interdisciplinary support from Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy.
• Common Diagnoses: Post-operative care for orthopedic, gynecological, ophthalmology, plastics, general surgery, ENT, podiatry, and urology patients.

Qualifications

• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of nursing experience is required
• Certifications: Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications are mandatory
• Skills: Proficiency in a variety of nursing skills including, but not limited to, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, IV management, medication reconciliation, and discharge instructions.

Additional Information

• Orientation: 24 hours of orientation provided
• Patient Ratio Details: 2 patients during the day, 1 at night, and 1 on weekends
• Pre-approved Time Off: Limited pre-approved time off is available
