Human Resources Director

About the Job Reporting directly to the President, the Human Resources Director is responsible for leading and executing all human resources functions at the Smyrna facility, ensuring alignment between workforce strategy and operational objectives in a high-volume food manufacturing environment. This role oversees day-to-day HR operations while providing strategic guidance on organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, employee relations, compliance, and talent development. The Human Resources Director plays a critical role in supporting a high-performing, engaged workforce, mitigating organizational risk, and enabling continued business growth. Key Responsibilities Serve as a core member of the plant leadership team, contributing to business strategy and decision-making Align HR strategies with plant objectives, production demands, and long-term growth plans Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and culture Lead and support change management initiatives to improve operational effectiveness Oversee and resolve complex employee relations issues, including investigations, corrective actions, and terminations Ensure fair, consistent, and compliant application of company policies and procedures Partner with Legal to mitigate risk and ensure appropriate handling of sensitive employment matters Lead high-volume recruiting strategies to support multiple departments and shifts Develop and implement workforce plans aligned with production needs and seasonal demands Oversee onboarding programs to ensure effective integration and early retention of new hires Partner with operations to anticipate workforce gaps and proactively build talent pipelines Drive a positive workplace culture through effective HR leadership and partnership with plant leadership Oversee compensation practices to ensure market competitiveness and internal equity Administer benefits, wellness and employee support programs Ensure integrity and accuracy of HR systems, reporting, and employee records Analyze HR metrics (e.g., turnover, absenteeism, overtime) to inform business decisions Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations Partner with Safety and Operations on OSHA compliance and injury prevention initiatives Lead or support workplace investigations, audits, and corrective action planning Maintain audit readiness for HR-related compliance areas (I-9, wage/hour, social compliance, etc.) Lead, coach, and develop the site HR teams Establish clear expectations, roles, and accountability within the HR function Foster a responsive, service-oriented HR team that effectively supports the operation Qualifications The ideal candidate’s background will also include the following background, experience, skills, and characteristics: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required Minimum of 7 years in a human resources leadership role Experience within manufacturing, food production, or high-volume operations strongly preferred Strong knowledge of employment law, and compliance requirements Proven ability to lead in a fast-paced, operational environment Demonstrated business acumen and ability to align HR with operational goals Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills Strong analytical capability with the ability to leverage HR metrics and KPIs Effective leadership and team development skills Experience with UKG/WFM platforms a plus #J-18808-Ljbffr Taylor Farms
