Job Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily workflow and performance of the collision repair production team to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient repairs. This role provides daily supervision and direction to production staff, coordinates and dispatches work assignments, monitors repair progress, and maintains accurate vehicle status information within C1.
The Production Manager works closely with technicians, estimators, parts personnel, and shop leadership to identify and resolve production obstacles, maintain repair schedules, support quality standards, and ensure vehicles move efficiently through each stage of the repair process.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Provide daily supervision, leadership, and direction to production team members.
- Plan, coordinate, and dispatch repair assignments based on technician skill level, workload, repair requirements, and production priorities.
- Manage the blueprint/disassembly process and assist with disassembly.
- Maintain accurate and timely vehicle status information within C1.
- Monitor vehicles throughout the repair process to ensure work progresses according to established repair plans and target completion dates.
- Monitor shop workflow and proactively identify production delays, bottlenecks, parts concerns, or other issues that may impact cycle time.
- Work closely with estimators, technicians, parts personnel, and management to resolve production-related issues.
- Review repair plans with appropriate team members to ensure repair procedures and requirements are understood before and during production.
- Ensure repairs are completed according to manufacturer procedures, company standards, and established quality expectations.
- Support quality control throughout the repair process and assist in identifying and resolving workmanship concerns before vehicle delivery.
- Monitor technician workload and productivity and make adjustments as necessary to maintain efficient shop flow.
- Communicate production priorities, expectations, and changes clearly to team members.
- Promote accountability and help ensure production employees meet established performance and quality expectations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient production environment.
- Ensure company safety procedures and policies are followed by production staff.
- Assist with training, coaching, and development of production team members.
- Partner with shop leadership to continuously improve production processes, cycle time, efficiency, and overall repair quality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support an efficient and effective repair operation.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of technical experience in collision repair, estimating, or production operations.
- Previous experience supervising or leading employees in a collision repair or automotive production environment preferred.
- Basic understanding of Collision Estimatics and Repair Process/Procedures.
- Strong understanding of collision repair workflow and production processes.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple repairs and competing production demands.
- Ability to understand and communicate instructions, both written and verbal.
- Ability to adapt easily to a fast-paced environment and changing production priorities.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technicians, estimators, parts personnel, management, and other departments.
- Ability to provide personable, professional, and friendly service to internal and external customers.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under our company insurance policy.
