Senior Logistics & Trade Compliance Specialist Reports to: Warehouse ManagerFLSA Status: Non-exemptPosition Summary: The Senior Logistics & Trade Compliance Specialist serves as a subject matter expert in international trade operations, customs compliance, and global supply chain execution. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end import and export activities in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and applicable foreign trade regulations. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in customs clearance processes, trade documentation, and cross-functional coordination to drive operational efficiency and regulatory compliance across the organization.Essential Responsibilities:Serve as the primary SME for U.S. and international import/export regulations, including CBP and EAR awareness, and other applicable jurisdictionsManage the full customs clearance lifecycle for inbound and outbound international shipments, ensuring timely and compliant entry filingClassify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and ensure accurate country of origin determinationsOversee and audit all trade documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, AWBs, certificates of origin, and import/export licensesIdentify and mitigate compliance risks related to denied parties, export controls, and customs valuationServe as the primary liaison with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies (CBP, Census Bureau, BIS)Monitor regulatory changes and proactively update internal processes to maintain complianceOther Important Responsibilities:Manage IOR (Importer of Record) responsibilities and ensure all supporting documentation meets CBP and applicable foreign customs requirementsCoordinate inbound and outbound freight movements across air, ocean, and ground modes of transportOversee FG inventory accuracy through systematic reconciliation of ERP data against physical inventory and shipment recordsPartner with procurement, production, and customer service teams to ensure on-time delivery and accurate order fulfillmentDrive continuous improvement initiatives across logistics workflows, cost reduction, and lead time optimizationDocument and resolve shipment discrepancies, damages, and customs holds, managing claims through to resolution Required Skills and Competencies:Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in international logistics, customs compliance, or trade operationsAssociate 's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related fieldDemonstrated hands-on experience managing U.S. customs clearances and working directly with licensed customs brokersStrong working knowledge of HTS classification, CBP regulations, EAR, and IncotermsProficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office SuiteExceptional attention to detail, analytical ability, and sound judgment in complex regulatory scenariosStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage internal stakeholders and external trade authoritiesLicensed Customs Broker (LCB) designation or active pursuit thereofExperience with Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and preferential duty programsExperience in life sciences, medical device, or high-tech manufacturing environmentsWork environment:This is a full-time, on-site position based in Somerset, NJ. Standard office environment with occasional warehouse interaction.
