Department Details This position is a dual role that shares time between the Abdominal Transplant unit and the Abdominal Transplant, Nephrology and Surgery Clinic. It is a 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) with two 12‑hour inpatient shifts per week and two 8‑hour outpatient clinic shifts per week. The Abdominal Transplant (6DCT) unit has 37 beds and provides care for patients undergoing liver, kidney, pancreas, small bowel, hand, and other organ transplants. The nurse‑to‑patient ratio is 1:3-4. Procedures commonly performed include diabetes management, pain management, wound care, telemetry, oxygen therapy, blood product administration, and IV fluid and medication administration. The outpatient clinic is multidisciplinary, serving patients who are pre‑solid organ transplant candidates or undergoing specialty surgeries such as nephrology, liver/intestinal transplant, pancreas transplant, and interventional radiology. What you will do: Plan, provide, and document professional nursing care using the nursing process in accordance with physician orders and established policies. Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers. Assist other healthcare personnel in the delivery of patient care. Participate in maintaining the environment of care, including equipment and material resources. Engage in your own professional development by maintaining required competencies and seeking educational opportunities. Support the development of other staff and formal learners. Participate in identifying clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities. What you will need: Graduation from an accredited bachelor’s, associate’s, or diploma program in nursing. Current registration with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse. BLS certification. New graduate nurses without a bachelor’s degree must enroll in an approved BSN program within two years of their start date and complete the program within seven years.
