Position Summary

The Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teacher - Auto Mechanics is responsible for providing students with hands-on instruction and classroom learning in automotive technology, vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, repair procedures, and workplace safety. The teacher prepares students for careers in the automotive industry by delivering industry-aligned curriculum, supervising laboratory activities, and promoting career readiness, technical skills, and professional behavior.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging instruction in automotive systems, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair.
• Teach students proper use of automotive tools, equipment, and diagnostic technology.
• Provide hands-on laboratory instruction in areas such as:
• • Engine repair and performance
  • Brake systems
  • Electrical and electronic systems
  • Steering and suspension
  • HVAC systems
  • Transmission and drivetrain systems
  • Preventive maintenance and inspections
• Maintain a safe and organized classroom and automotive lab environment in compliance with OSHA and district safety standards.
• Assess student performance through classroom participation, projects, practical demonstrations, written tests, and industry-based assessments.
• Integrate employability skills such as communication, teamwork, professionalism, and problem-solving into instruction.
• Prepare students for industry certifications such as ASE Student Certification or other automotive credentialing programs.
• Maintain inventory, tools, equipment, and instructional materials for the automotive lab.
• Collaborate with school counselors, administrators, local businesses, and industry partners to support student success and work-based learning opportunities.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, attendance, and required program documentation.
