Physical Therapist - Travel Contract

Join a traveling Physical Therapist role in Tyler, TX at a hospital where you will help patients recover from injuries and manage chronic conditions while experiencing life in a new location. This role focuses primarily on orthopedic patients with some neuro caseload and follows standards of the Physical Therapy Practice Act for assessment, planning, evaluation, and implementation of care.

Minimum Requirements

• Doctorate preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.
• Active Texas Physical Therapist license required.
• Current BLS from the American Heart Association required.
• Experience treating primarily orthopedic patients; experience with neuro patients preferred.
• Ability to manage a 1:1 patient ratio with typical treatment cadence of one patient every 45 minutes.
• Ability to independently assess and develop measurable, realistic goals and to reassess progress per department policy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
• Experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Familiarity with department scheduling and additional testing protocols.

Assignment Details

• Shift hours: 0800-1700.
• Work schedule: Five days per week, eight-hour shifts.
• Close early Friday with opportunity to make up the extra hour during Monday–Thursday.

Impacting Patient Care

The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing therapy for assigned patients. Responsibilities include gathering pertinent data from charts and caregivers, independently assessing patients, recognizing additional needs, communicating with physicians as necessary, identifying appropriate equipment and educating patients and families, and reassessing patient progress according to department and regulatory policy.
