Job Overview Position Title: Business Support Specialist II Location: UMKC School of Dentistry – Business Office Reports to: Senior Finance and Accounting Manager The role focuses on purchasing and financial operations to support the School of Dentistry’s business and academic mission. Key Responsibilities Purchasing and Procurement Set up and manage large dollar and blanket purchase orders (POs) and associated tasks such as invoice processing, PO maintenance, increases, and sole source justifications. Order, pay, and reconcile small dollar purchases using the School credit card. Place e‑procurement supply orders through Show Me Shop. Process non‑PO voucher payments. Manage new supplier setup and update existing supplier information. Handle payments with special handling requirements (hold checks, enclosures, etc.). Finance and Administrative Support Log and endorse incoming checks according to established internal controls. Provide travel reimbursement support to faculty, staff, and students. Assist faculty and staff with meeting supply needs. Reconcile payroll and ensure compliance with financial policies. Reconcile dental clinic deposits. Educate staff on policies and procedures. Provide backup coverage for team members as needed. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience that demonstrates comparable knowledge and skills. Preferred Qualifications Strong communication, organization, and time‑management skills. High attention to detail and problem‑solving ability. Experience in accounts payable or accounting. Experience working in a university setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Access. Experience with PeopleSoft financial systems. Compensation Anticipated hiring range: $23.00 – $26.50 per hour. Salary is determined by education, skills, and experience in addition to organizational factors.
