Patient Financial CounselorThe Cancer Center of Kansas (CCK) is seeking a full-time, on-site Patient Financial Counselor to join our team in our Wichita, KS offices. The typical work week is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with no major holidays, no on-call and no weekends.As part of The US Oncology Network and with over 40 years being established in Kansas, CCK delivers quality, personalized cancer care to communities across the state. Orders and tack drug received for patients approved for assistance, file claims to foundations and copay programs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.ResponsibilitiesAssist all patients that do not have insurance or patients with a limited coverage policy in obtaining financial assistance (i.e. Project Access, drug replacement or co-pay assistance), outside assistance (i.e. transportation or other community services), and all appropriate forms.Coordinate with the patient and provider to obtain all information and signatures for drug reimbursement requirements per manufacture/program.Upload or fax all applications and the pertinent financial forms (along with the physician's signature and the prescription) required for assistance to the manufacture/program.Collaborate with the treatment authorization team to identify patients in need of assistance and notify them once approvals are in place.Utilizes the Summary of Patient Reimbursement and Liability form and obtains appropriate approvals as required.Performs financial counseling process on all patients prior to treatment, which includes patient financial obligations, billing practices and establishing payment arrangements.Documents financial counseling process.Order and track all approved drugs for patients according to their schedule.Assists in maintaining manuals, logs and other required documentation as required.Communicate with pharmaceutical companies Field Reimbursement Managers to stay up to date on program changes.Demonstrates an understanding for patient confidentiality to protect the patient and the clinic/corporation.Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office.Covers for and assists with other front office functions as requested.Attends required, applicable meetings.Remains current on all compliance requirements.Ensures all applicable policies and procedures of the company and Network are followed.Other duties as requested or assigned including coverage within the department.Performs other tasks as reasonably requested by a provider or member of the Management Team, as applicable to the role.Supervisory Responsibilities: None.QualificationsThe ideal candidate for the position will have the following qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:High school degree or equivalent requiredMinimum three (3) years medical insurance verification and authorization required.Physical Demands of the Job: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
