Catering Assistant Logistics Supervisor (Part-time, 28 hrs per week)

Job Title Assistant Logistics Supervisor Job Summary This part‑time position (28 hrs/week) assists the Catering Warehouse supervisor with the preparation and service of catered events, both on and off campus. Work Environment Indoor and outdoor, on and off campus, all seasons Nights and weekends required Long days may occur depending on events Heavy lifting of carts and equipment common Physically demanding and stressful work On‑call hours required Key Responsibilities Open and close the warehouse in the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor Assemble and organize products for catered events according to production sheets and in collaboration with sales, culinary, and event coordinators Supervise the loading and unloading of event trucks for each event Supervise cleaning and storage of all catering equipment, including dishes, glassware, flatware, utensils, linen, chafers, and props Act as the onsite point person for employees at catering events Step into other departmental roles when positions are vacant or staff shortages occur Certify and train truck drivers in catering procedures Qualifications One year of previous experience in catering or a similar field Preferred: Two or more years of catering experience Physical Requirements Moderate physical effort: Frequent handling of medium weight objects (20–50 lbs) Use of hand tools, climbing ladders, or working in awkward positions Exposure to adverse weather, cramped or dirty conditions Skills, Abilities, and Certifications Ability to handle a fast‑paced environment with interruptions Self‑motivated and able to manage time and multitask Basic handyman knowledge helpful Valid driver’s license with a clean record for at least 3 years and reliable transportation Background, driver’s record, and reference checks required Experience operating a box truck Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel ServSafe FSM certificate required after hire Non‑CDL campus truck driving certification required after hire Benefits 401(k) with automatic 8% BYU contribution and additional match if employee contributes Employee assistance program available to employee and household members Possible eligibility for tuition benefits after two years Access to the library Free on‑campus parking Free UTA passes for employees, spouses, and qualified dependents Discounts at the BYU Store and for many BYU events Compensation Pay Grade: 46.
