Duties

Help

You will serve as a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST and be responsible for providing technical direction, advice and guidance in the development, procurement, testing, and maintenance for all logistics needed to support Coast Guard operations; and to develop logistics plans and procedures to ensure the most efficient/economical and effective use of logistics resources for Coast Guard units. .

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

• Developing short and long-range logistics plans, procedures, and instructions to ensure the most efficient/economical and effective use of supply, inventory, and logistics resources for Coast Guard.
• Analyzing, interpreting, and applying higher organizational regulations, instructions, directives and policies to existing logistics practices, program and operations for USCG.
• Assisting with the development, updates and revisions of new or existing operational plans and their supporting logistics plans.
• Coordinating and arranging for the interstate and worldwide movement of personnel, cargo and equipment in order to support a mission and operation for a Coast Guard unit.
• Serving as a liaison for other Coast Guard units, DoD, other government agencies, non-government agencies, foreign military and/or industry and commercial sector organizations to enhance and integrate logistics programs and support in order to carry out various missions and operations for Coast Guard units.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

• Analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of logistics management programs and operations.
• Effectively integrating and coordinating logistics management functions and activities in support of the operations and programs of the organization.
• Analyzing and making decisions to resolve difficult issues and problems in logistics management activities, policies, processes, and coordination and integration efforts.
• Developing and implementing policies and procedures pertaining to logistics management activities and programs.
• Communicating effectively at all management/working levels with internal and external stakeholders both orally and in writing.

Student Loan - Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent or term position may be eligible for student loan repayment up to $10,000 (pre-tax) for one calendar year.
