Part-time VSFB Commissary/Custodial Worker - Qualifying Disability

DETAILS OF POSITION

Location: Vandenberg Space Force Base / Part-time: 2-3 days a week / Hours: Varies / Starting rate of pay: $18.06

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Beacon, formerly VTC Enterprises, has been supporting adults with developmental disabilities since opening our doors in 1962. Part of fulfilling our mission includes providing individuals with community experiences to develop and promote their independence.

This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and professional commissary environment in accordance with contract requirements, BEACON Standards, and applicable safety regulations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, a person must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned.

Custodial Operations

• Clean offices, restrooms, common areas, and other designated commissary spaces.
• Perform periodic cleaning of walls, doors, glass, metal fixtures, wood surfaces, and other facility components.
• Conduct high and low dusting and cleaning activities.
• Clean and sanitize meat room areas in accordance with established procedures and food safety requirements.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables following facility procedures.

Equipment & Safety

• Safely operate custodial equipment, tools, and cleaning products.
• Inspect equipment for proper operation and report maintenance concerns.
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and workplace policies.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Operational Support

• Assist with stocking, inventory movement, or other commissary functions when necessary to support operations.
• Collaborate with coworkers and supervisors to ensure contract performance standards are met.
• Adapt to changing priorities and workload requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

QUALIFICATIONS include the following. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position.

Education/Experience: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or facilities maintenance experience is preferred but not required.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to read and understand basic instructions, product labels, work schedules, and safety information in English. Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, and effective communication in daily interactions while working cooperatively with supervisors, coworkers, military personnel, commissary staff, and customers. Maintains positive working relationships and contributes to a respectful, team-oriented work environment.

Technical/Computer Skills: Basic ability to use timekeeping systems or other workplace technology as required. No advanced computer skills are required.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to follow detailed cleaning procedures and quality standards.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing operational demands.
