CNC Machine Maintenance Mechanic - Contingent

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing machinery
• Maintain and repair diverse machining equipment: 5-axis milling machines, mill turns, EDMs, Laser-Swiss, CNC lathes, motion control systems, mist collectors, ovens, stamping machines, etc.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control systems down to the component level
• Document work performed in maintenance software and determine root cause for every failure
• Plan repair work, determine methods/sequence of operations, and collaborate with engineering on complex problems
• Identify improvements to preventative maintenance instructions, asset BOMs, and machine design changes; communicate to engineering management
• Perform tank cleanouts and light TPM repairs
• Maintain knowledge of and adhere to FDA quality system regulation, ISO13485, and ISO9001 policies
• Walk machine areas to identify air/water leaks, filters, and basic maintenance needs
• Complete GDP documentation using strong writing skills

Experience Required

• 3–5 years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems on CNC machine shop equipment in a manufacturing environment
• Minimum 1+ year of baseline mechanical skills or machine shop/design experience; 3–5 years documented machine experience ideal (flexible)
• 2+ years of Ballbar testing and analysis – preferred
• 3–5 years of experience with Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Heidenhain, and Mazatrol CNC controllers – preferred
• 3–5 years of experience troubleshooting/repairing PLC and servo drive hardware and software – preferred
• 3–5 years of experience maintaining/repairing CNC equipment from manufacturers such as Mazak, KERN, Tsugami, EuroTech, Rofin, Fanuc EDM, Maier, and Citizen – preferred
• Prior factory experience preferred; FDA environment experience preferred
• Welding ability a plus

Skills & Certifications

• Baseline mechanical skills
• Reading/interpreting schematics, drawings, and performance specifications (electrical/mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic/ladder logic)
• CNC programming and operation for maintenance verification
• Power tools, hand tools, and forklift operation
• Detailed technical/repair report writing (advanced MS Office)
• Analytical, root-cause problem-solving
• Strong communication skills

Eligibilities & qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (minimum)
• Associate degree in advanced manufacturing, machine technology, or related technical certification – desired
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, perform heavy lifting, climb ladders, and work in small/confined spaces or inclement weather
• Ability to work overtime and respond to off-hour/weekend facility emergencies as needed
• Punctual with consistent attendance
• Commitment to safety standards and environmental/safety regulation compliance (ISO14001)
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work well with others
