About the Position

Job Title

Cytologist / Cytotechnologist

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM or 8:00 AM–4:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, examine, and interpret cytological specimens to assist in the diagnosis of disease
• Screen and evaluate Pap smears and other cytological samples in accordance with established protocols
• Maintain compliance with proficiency testing requirements, including current PAP Proficiency Testing (PT)
• Collaborate with pathologists and clinical staff to ensure accurate and timely reporting of findings
• Adhere to all applicable state and accreditation standards for cytology practice

Required Qualifications

• ASCP Board Certification as a Cytotechnologist/Cytologist
• New York State Cytotechnologist/Cytologist License (current)
• Proof of passing PAP Proficiency Testing (PT) for the current calendar year, or proof of scheduled PT testing within the current calendar year
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Cytotechnologist/Cytologist

Preferred Experience / Skills

• 5 or more years of experience in cytology
• Strong familiarity with a high-volume cytology laboratory environment
