Vital Voices Global Partnership is hiring a Vice President of Communications and Engagement to lead its global communications strategy, public relations, digital presence, stakeholder engagement, and events portfolio. Reporting directly to the Chief External Relations Officer, this executive role advances the organization's reputation and global visibility — positioning Vital Voices as an authority on women's leadership, gender equity, and social impact worldwide. The VP will oversee an integrated team spanning media relations, digital communications, storytelling, and events — partnering closely with Development, Programs, and Executive Leadership to ensure this work drives fundraising, mission awareness, and organizational priorities. Based in Washington, D.C. with two required in-person days per week. Scope of the Role Communications and PR — develop and execute an integrated global communications strategy; lead proactive media relations; cultivate relationships with journalists and influencers; manage crisis communications; prepare executives for media and speaking engagements Brand and digital — own Vital Voices' global brand narrative and messaging framework; lead content strategy across web, social, email, newsletters, and multimedia; manage Mailchimp email engagement strategy Events — provide executive leadership for Vital Voices' internal and external events portfolio; develop integrated events strategy; ensure major convenings serve as strategic engagement opportunities Internal communications — strengthen employee engagement and organizational culture through internal communications strategies Team leadership — build and develop a high-performing Communications team; set priorities, workflows, and performance expectations Requirements Bachelor's degree preferred, plus 12+ years in communications, public relations, marketing, or journalism Demonstrated experience leading PR strategies including media relations and earned media Proven success developing relationships with journalists, media outlets, and communications partners Exceptional writing and storytelling skills across press releases, op-eds, speeches, and executive communications Experience overseeing strategic events and high-level stakeholder engagement programs Experience managing and developing high-performing teams Proficiency with Salesforce, Meltwater, Mailchimp, Canva, and social media platforms preferred Compensation and Benefits Starting salary of $158,100, with flexibility up to $202,500.
