Hospital Coding Specialist II- Technology Auditor

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Health Information Management professional to handle hospital coding and compliance. The role involves accurate coding, charge capture, and ensuring regulatory requirements are met. Responsibilities Review and accurately interpret medical record documentation from all hospital accounts to identify diagnoses and procedures that affect the current outpatient encounter and assign appropriate ICD‑10, CPT, or modifier codes. Code moderately complex patient classes such as ED, observations, same‑day care, and other appropriate classes. Assign hospital codes to a variety of patient classes (e.g., ED, OBS, SDC). Ensure quality, timely coding, charging, and abstraction of accounts are completed daily for assigned specialty areas. Maintain and enhance coding knowledge through quality review, attendance at clinical in‑services and coding seminars, internal meetings, study of reference materials, and updates to coding manuals. Ensure the accuracy, quality, and timely review of data needed to obtain a clean bill. Contact physicians or other personnel as needed to obtain information for accurate code assignment and facilitate the billing process. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Current HIM or coding certification (AHIMA or AAPC). Two (2) years of hospital coding experience. Preferred Qualifications Graduate of Health Information Technology (HIT) or equivalent program or Medical Coding Certification Program. Physical Requirements Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must have visual and hearing acuity within the normal range. Must have manual dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Working Environment Standard office environment with potential visual strain from computer screens. May require occasional travel. Skills and Abilities Ability to concentrate and maintain accuracy during frequent interruptions. Independent decision‑making ability. Ability to prioritize job duties and handle high‑stress situations. Adaptability to changes in the workplace. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Additional Job Information Scheduled weekly hours: 40. Shift: Exempt/Non‑Exempt. Location: United States of America. #J-18808-Ljbffr
