AVP, AI Data Science Engineer

Salary: $185,000 - 235,000 per year Requirements:

• We need 7+ years of experience in AI, machine learning, data science, analytics, or closely related fields.
• We require 3+ years of people leadership experience.
• We are looking for proven success building and launching production-ready AI, machine learning, or agentic systems beyond proof-of-concept stage.
• We need a strong history of developing supervised learning models, including ML and/or GLMs, that have produced measurable financial results.
• We require deep knowledge of model assessment, experimentation, statistical analysis, and decision science.
• We expect strong experience evaluating AI technologies, platforms, and vendors.
• We require strong Python skills for data science, machine learning, and AI development.
• We need exceptional problem-solving ability and the skill to turn ambiguous business challenges into analytical and AI-driven opportunities.
• We require strong communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• We expect hands-on experience with modern AI technologies, including LLMs, RAG, agentic systems, evaluation frameworks, and emerging AI tools.
• A bachelors degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Analytics, or equivalent practical experience is required.
• Preferred: familiarity with P&C insurance, including underwriting, claims, or the submission lifecycle.
• Preferred: experience with retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation frameworks, and structured-output methods.
• Preferred: experience applying AI and machine learning in enterprise environments.
• Preferred: experience leading multidisciplinary teams across data science, AI, analytics, and technology functions.
• Preferred: demonstrated commitment to staying current with AI advancements through research, experimentation, publications, conference participation, or community contributions.

• We will have you lead the design of multi-agent AI systems that coordinate specialized models and agents to solve complex business challenges.
• We will expect you to drive end-to-end delivery of AI-powered underwriting and claims solutions from experimentation through production rollout.
• You will develop and assess decision frameworks that combine LLMs, retrieval systems, machine learning models, business rules, and human review.
• You will define methods for measuring model performance, calibration, confidence, accuracy, and business impact to determine when automation is appropriate.
• You will establish the conditions under which AI-driven decisions should be trusted, reviewed, or escalated.
• You will partner with cross-functional teams to embed AI capabilities into business workflows and operational processes.
• You will mentor data scientists, AI engineers, and analysts on agentic AI, model evaluation, prompt engineering, and responsible AI practices.
• You will help set standards for AI evaluation, monitoring, governance, and continuous improvement within our AI & Automation Center of Excellence.

This is a remote, incentive-eligible role reporting to our SVP of AI & Automation, with a base salary range of $185,000 to $235,000 per year.
