Job DescriptionHarborview Medical Center’s (HMC) Otolaryngology Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a per-diem, temporary ARNP, Nurse Practitioner or PA-C, Physician Assistant Certified.WORK SCHEDULE:80% FTE, 32 hours per weekDay shiftDEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONHarborview's Otolaryngology clinic assesses and treats patients with routine and complex disorders, conditions and cancers of the ear, nose, throat and related structures of the head and neck. Our highly-trained surgeons, speech pathologists, nurses and support staff work hard to provide each patient with individualized treatment and information to support the healthiest outcome possible. We also provide diagnosis and treatment for voice and swallowing conditions, sleep surgery, and complete audiology services, including diagnostic hearing evaluations and advanced hearing aid technology.POSITION HIGHLIGHTSConveniently located near public transportationMake a difference for the patients and teams we serveOpportunity to provide career growthPRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESRecords medical histories, perform physical examinations, order and/or perform diagnostic tests, evaluate test results, establish diagnoses and prescribe medication and/or treatmentsPerforms minor surgical procedures such as suturing lacerations, postoperative wound care, scoping, incising and draining abscesses, including administration of local anesthesiaProvides health education; assist with proper utilization of community social and health care resources. Assists in clinical training of various levels of health care professionals, participates in continuing educationSupports and assists Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery, Neurotology and Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Faculty in the provision of services during physician visits and assumes responsibility for care under guidelines set forth by teamPerform perioperative care to include postoperative care, in-patient rounds, consult service and other follow up careCoordination of care for Oral Maxillofacial and Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery patients throughout treatmentREQUIREMENTSNurse Practitioner:Master’s Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursingAND Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privilegesAND National certification as a Nurse PractitionerAND BLS certificationORPhysician Assistant:Licensure as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Washington with national certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA).Applicant must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medial Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positionsAND BLS certificationEquivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registrationABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTERAs the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
