Work Environment & Population Served

Our facilities operate as Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) that provide:

• Long-term care for residents needing ongoing skilled support and compassionate daily assistance
• Short-term, sub-acute rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, illness, or injury
• Collaborative care through an interdisciplinary team approach involving nursing, therapy, and medical staff
• A diverse patient population, including individuals with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and post-acute needs

Position Overview

The Occupational Therapist (OT) delivers direct rehabilitation care in occupational therapy to patients referred by physicians, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.

Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements

• Must be NBCOT certified upon hire; renewal is optional thereafter
• Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program (BSOT or MSOT)
• Currently registered or licensed in the applicable state, with an active license in good standing throughout employment
• One year of experience is preferred; however, new graduates are encouraged to apply
• CPR certification is required upon hire or must be obtained during orientation, and must remain current during employment

Specific Job Responsibilities

• Engage in community health initiatives and projects as appropriate
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication
• Collaborate with patients, families, and support departments to effectively plan for patient needs
• Exhibit good body mechanics at all times
• Make independent decisions when necessary
• Understand and comply with practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post-acute care facilities
• Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
• Demonstrate proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
• Maintain professional relationships with all associates and vendors
• Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and confidential information
• Adhere to company policies, including those related to harassment and compliance
• Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following the organization's Code of Conduct and completing mandatory compliance training

Essential Functions

• Follow occupational treatment plans for patients, including activities of daily living
• Establish, assess, and adjust realistic, measurable, and functional goals
• Oversee and evaluate care provided by Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs), Rehabilitation Aides, and students
• Document care appropriately and in a timely manner
• Utilize therapy software accurately and effectively
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude towards patients
• Assist in the evacuation of patients when necessary
• Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality
• Utilize reasoning skills and good judgment in all situations
• Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
• Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, and reaching throughout working hours
• Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
