Imaging Coordinator

Summary Under general supervision by the Managers of Medical Imaging, assists in directing staff in the diagnostic imaging department, ensuring efficient processes, workflow, and adherence to procedures. Operates specialty equipment and general department equipment, providing patient- and family-centered care across all age groups with consideration of developmental and cultural factors. Aligns clinical practice with Brown University Health and The Miriam Hospital’s mission, vision, and values. Responsibilities Provides overall guidance, direction, and oversight for CT, Radiology, MRI, Ultrasound, and other diagnostic imaging departments. Ensures policies and practices are followed and serves as a resource to resolve issues with nursing, technologists, patients, and physicians. Provides staffing and work assignments at the start of the shift, adjusting as workloads change, and oversees staff breaks to maintain coverage. Assists with patient flow and resource allocation to promote efficient throughput. Participates in Environment of Care (EOC) rounding, ensuring standards are met. Provides orientation for new personnel and answers departmental process questions. Seeks assistance from the DI manager or Nursing Manager when necessary. Ensures safety and comfort of patients during examinations. Performs TPESR audits, education, and other quality control procedures; provides audit results to the department manager. Troubleshoots PACS, EPIC, and other IS software issues; collaborates with IT and Helpdesk. Operates and navigates essential IS software such as PACS, LifeChart, and PeopleSoft. Provides coverage in specialty areas when needed and performs job duties of related specialties as appropriate. Maintains inventory and orders department supplies; monitors expiration dates and disposes expired items. Maintains quality assurance, safety, environment, and infection control per hospital policies. Serves as a conduit between shifts, providing smooth information transfer. Assists with equipment troubleshooting, coordination of maintenance, and reporting of issues to the department manager. Maintains a clean and organized assigned area and carries a pager for accessibility. Minimum Qualifications Completion of at least two years of formal training in Radiologic Technology or equivalent. Current Rhode Island license for the specialty. Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide care across the lifespan, considering aging, development, and cultural patterns. Ability to perform imaging studies in certified modalities. Experience Five years of radiology experience preferred. Prior Supervisory or Lead Experience Preferred Prior supervisory or lead experience is preferred. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Healthcare setting including acute care hospitals, physicians’ offices, and ancillary enterprises. Work involves medical equipment and direct patient contact. Requires adherence to safety procedures and protective equipment. Walks, stands, and lifts up to 50 pounds. May encounter electrical hazards. Supervisory Responsibilities Assists in staff direction, orientation, training, oversight, and guidance, and provides input on performance evaluations.
