Hospice Volunteer

Aleca Hospice is seeking compassionate and dependable volunteers to provide companionship and support to our patients and families. No medical experience is required—we provide comprehensive training and ongoing support to help you feel confident in your role.

As a hospice volunteer, your presence can make an extraordinary difference by bringing comfort, connection, and kindness during an important stage of life.

Volunteer Responsibilities

• Visit patients in their homes or care facilities
• Provide friendly companionship and conversation
• Read aloud, play games, listen to music, or simply spend time together
• Offer respite to family caregivers by staying with their loved one
• Assist with light administrative or office projects (optional)
• Document volunteer visits according to hospice guidelines
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional boundaries

Qualifications

• Compassionate, dependable, and respectful
• At least 18 years of age (or 16+ with parental consent, if applicable)
• Able to complete volunteer orientation and training
• Comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Reliable transportation for patient visits
• Willing to complete a background check, obtain a fingerprint clearance card, TB screening, and any additional onboarding requirements

Time Commitment

We ask volunteers to commit approximately 2–4 hours per week , with a schedule that fits their availability.
