What You'll Do

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, and lab support systems
• Operate and troubleshoot building automation systems (BAS), fire alarm, and security systems
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues using schematics, drawings, and diagnostic tools
• Operate and maintain steam boiler systems (fire tube or water tube) in line with code and best practices
• Conduct and manage daily boiler water testing , ensuring proper chemical balance and system protection
• Collaborate with and oversee vendors and contractors , ensuring quality and timely completion
• Support facility upgrades, system improvements, and capital projects
• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment across the campus
• Perform general building maintenance across mechanical and structural systems
• Respond to alarms, system issues, and emergencies as needed
• Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours system support

What You Bring

• Valid MN Boilers License (2C, 2B, 1st Class, or Chief) required
• Proven experience operating and maintaining steam boiler systems
• Ability to clearly explain and perform boiler water testing procedures
• 5+ years of commercial or institutional facilities experience
• Strong troubleshooting skills across HVAC, boilers, chillers, and building systems
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams
• Experience with BAS, fire protection systems, and security systems
• Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude
• Strong safety mindset and attention to detail

Nice to Have:

• Technical or trade school education
• Welding, pipefitting, or carpentry experience
• Experience supporting large campuses or corporate headquarters environments

• Supports approximately 400 employees , including executives and scientists
• Hands-on work with HVAC, boilers, chillers, BAS, and facility systems
• Blend of office, mechanical, and technical spaces
• MondayFriday schedule: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM , plus on-call rotation

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shoreview, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr.
