Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Trauma General Surgery Stepdown/MedSurg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: - Epic experience - Level 1 trauma experience - 1:6 ratio experience Description: This is a trauma and general surgery inpatient unit. The unit is recognized as a Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Center. The capacity is 30 total beds, with a mix of floor and stepdown patients. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:6 for floor patients and 1:3 for stepdown patients. Common patient diagnoses include multi-trauma, traumatic brain injuries, fractures, and general surgeries. Experience with complex wound care, drains, and respiratory support is essential. Nurses must manage various medical and surgical conditions. Heparin and PCA drips are typically used on the floor, with Insulin and Cardizem in stepdown. Nurse aids, referred to as Clinical Associates, assist with patient care. Respiratory therapy support is available 24/7, focusing on stable and chronic cases. Monitor techs are present to assist with telemetry, but RNs must validate strips. Shifts will include weekends and holidays as needed. Floating to similar units is required. The dress code is royal blue scrubs. This unit offers a fast-paced environment with complex patient care challenges. Nurses collaborate with various services to provide comprehensive care. The unit allows nurses to practice at the top of their scope and develop critical thinking skills. Cancellation policies apply according to the contract terms.
