Job Title: Electrical Superintendent Job Description
The Electrical Superintendent oversees complex mechanical and electrical construction activities for data center projects, with a primary focus on the DFW area. This role requires strong computer skills and familiarity with process piping, chillers, water cooling systems, CRAH units, and related data center infrastructure. The Electrical Superintendent provides leadership on site, coordinates multiple stakeholders, and ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with engineering standards and client expectations. Occasional travel to other project sites is expected.
Responsibilities- Supervise mechanical and electrical construction and maintenance activities for data center projects, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
- Provide full project oversight to ensure all phases of construction are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality and performance requirements.
- Lead, coordinate, and supervise mechanical and electrical crews and subcontractors, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and supporting team development.
- Inspect work regularly to confirm compliance with engineering standards, codes, and safety regulations, and implement quality assurance procedures as needed.
- Enforce safety protocols on site, conduct regular safety meetings, and promote a strong safety culture among all team members.
- Investigate safety incidents or near-misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed work schedules, ensuring mechanical and electrical activities align with overall project timelines and milestones.
- Coordinate with other departments, trades, and project stakeholders to sequence work effectively and minimize conflicts or delays.
- Manage tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring proper availability, allocation, and use of resources to support uninterrupted project progress.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, technical drawings, and specifications, providing clear guidance to crews on installations and system layouts.
- Offer technical support on mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, CRAH units, UPS systems, process piping, and substation-related equipment.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and documentation of inspections, issues, and resolutions for project records and stakeholder communication.
- Prepare and update project documentation related to schedules, quality control, safety, and commissioning activities.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and clients to coordinate deliveries, resolve issues, and ensure mechanical and electrical work meets contractual obligations and client expectations.
- Participate in vendor and client meetings to provide project updates, technical input, and status reports on construction and commissioning progress.
- Identify mechanical and electrical issues during construction or maintenance, troubleshoot problems, and recommend improvements or modifications to enhance system performance.
- Support commissioning activities for data center systems, including electrical distribution, HVAC equipment, UPS systems, and associated controls.
- Utilize project management and construction software tools, such as Procore and other computer-based systems, to track progress, manage documentation, and support decision-making.
- Ensure strong communication across teams, providing clear instructions, feedback, and updates to crew members, project leadership, and clients.
- Support estimation and planning activities by providing input on mechanical and electrical scopes, installation requirements, and resource needs.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in construction, preferably in commercial or data center environments, with responsibilities in site supervision or management.
- Experience overseeing mechanical and electrical construction activities, including HVAC systems, process piping, and related infrastructure.
- Proficient computer skills, including the use of project management and construction software tools such as Procore.
- Ability to read and interpret project schedules and align field activities with overall timelines.
- Strong ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, and technical drawings for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills, with experience leading crews and subcontractors on active construction sites.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and clients.
- Solid understanding of safety standards and regulations, with a strong safety attitude and commitment to enforcing safety protocols.
- Construction experience in commercial projects, with exposure to MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems.
- Experience with data center projects and associated systems such as CRAH units, UPS systems, chillers, and water cooling systems (highly preferred).
- Electrical background, with practical knowledge of electrical systems, switchgear, and substation-related work (preferred).
- Mechanical engineering degree is highly desirable and provides a strong foundation for understanding complex mechanical and electrical systems.

- Ability to work with detailed schematics and P&IDs to plan and execute installations and modifications.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and best practices for construction site safety.
- Experience in commercial construction environments, including coordination of multiple trades and complex schedules.
- Comfort with using various software tools and digital platforms to manage documentation, schedules, and communication.
- Willingness to travel between project sites as needed to support ongoing work and project demands.
- Data center background is beneficial and supports a deeper understanding of mission-critical operations and reliability requirements.
This role is primarily based on site at a data center facility in the Red Oak, Texas area, with regular presence required on active construction sites. The Electrical Superintendent works closely with field crews, subcontractors, and project stakeholders in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment where uptime and reliability are essential. The position involves coordinating work across multiple sites, and the individual may be expected to travel between project locations. The work environment includes exposure to mechanical and electrical equipment, HVAC systems, process piping, and data center infrastructure. Standard full-time hours are expected, with flexibility required to meet project milestones and address issues that may arise during construction and commissioning. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
