Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician

The Opportunity The primary function of a Maintenance Technician - Assembly is the safe day-to-day preventative and emergency/unscheduled maintenance tasks of the various assembly, injection molding and other machinery. The Maintenance Technician - Assembly will help oversee the performance and maintenance of large production machinery. This position reports to the Production Supervisor – Assembly. In the absence of the Production Supervisor, this position reports to the Plant Manager. $28-$32/hr Mon-Fri 10p-7a; overtime and weekends as needed How You Will Impact Smurfit WestRock Perform all work in accordance with the highest standards of Smurfit Westrock-Vitop safety policies; ensure all safety policies and processes are enforced. Successfully complete all essential training. Perform daily cleaning of the equipment. Perform rebuilds of parts and maintain stock of them. Check the equipment for proper functionality. Complete daily tests of the machines and document results. Check inventory parts and submit inventory weekly. Support other departments on maintenance duties. Inspect supply equipment for proper machine function. Change fluids, parts, and filters. Clean and maintain equipment. Evaluate and identify equipment issues and repair needs. Test equipment for proper OEM specification. Complete preventive Maintenance logs. Function as a rigger and/or crane operator for moving, installing, and transporting heavy machinery. Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics. May interface with vendors and suppliers to discuss products used in repair work and/or projects that need to be completed. Adhere to lock-out tag-out policy and procedures. Work with all departments to meet daily tasks. Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules, and procedures; follow rules and guidelines; promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. What You Need To Succeed 3+ years of industrial maintenance mechanic experience, including diagnosing and troubleshooting; preventative maintenance; lockout/tagout procedures. 5+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing equipment; knowledge of electrical circuits; understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics preferred. High school education or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime and weekend assignments. Ability to work in a team environment and rotate jobs or shifts as needed. Experience with basic hand tools required. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Extensive knowledge of OSHA requirements and Lockout/Tag-out Procedures. Strong knowledge of Safety, 5S, LEAN / TPS Toyota Production System is a plus. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and frequently exert physical effort. Work includes standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending, and working indoors/outdoors.
