Registered Nurse (RN) – Wound & Ostomy Care – Part Time Requisition Number: 266652, Regular, Location: Raleigh, NC, 27710 Job Overview After our mission of “Advancing Health Together!” the Hematology Oncology Clinic seeks an experienced Part‑Time Registered Nurse to provide outpatient wound & ostomy care. The RN will deliver high‑quality nursing care using the nursing process, work within a 4–5 hour shift Monday‑Friday between 8:00 am–4:30 pm, and collaborate with the oncology team. Responsibilities Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care based on physician orders and established policies. Use nursing judgment to individualize plans of care based on patient assessment. Delegate tasks and supervise licensed/unlicensed providers. Assist colleagues and serve as charge nurse or team leader when assigned. Monitor and correct issues to maintain environment of care, including equipment and resources. Maintain required competencies, identify learning needs and seek educational resources. Preceptor and support development of other staff and learners. Identify and participate in clinical or operational performance improvement activities. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Schedule Flexible to work a 4–5 hour shift Monday – Friday between 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Experience Wound and ostomy experience required (CWOCN or CWON). Two years of oncology experience preferred. Education, Degrees, Licensure, and Cert. Nationally recognized certification in wound & ostomy management required (CWOCN or CWON); continence certification preferred. Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate’s Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program required. RNs without a Bachelor’s degree must enroll in a BSN program within two years of start date and complete within seven years. RNs with a valid compact license must obtain a North Carolina license within 90 days of start date. BLS required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of scope of RN, LPN, and NCA. Knowledge of nursing process application. Knowledge of professional theory, practice, and procedures. Assess nursing needs of acute and chronic patients and families. Seek resources independently and work collaboratively. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Communicate clearly with patients, families, team, physicians, and leadership. Teach patients and families as per plan of care. Process, prioritize, and document information using computers and paper. Compete in BLS and other life support requirements. Record activities, assessments, plans, interventions, and evaluations. Use computers and learn new software. Navigate organizational systems to provide care. Withstand prolonged standing and walking; remain focused and organized. Apply infection control procedures and safety precautions. Meet JCAHO and regulatory requirements.
