Job Title: RN - OR Circulator Profession: RN Specialty: OR Circulator Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day/Evening Hours per Shift: 8 hours, M - F, 0600 to 2030, schedule and start times rotate Experience: One year previous full-time experience in the operating room required License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred Must-Have: ACLS, BLS, PALS required Description: Provides care in an acute care surgical setting. Assists surgeons and anesthesiologists and coordinates the flow of equipment, supplies, and staff during surgical procedures. Assures patient safety throughout the perioperative phase of care. Participates in patient care planning, assessment, and nursing treatment. Competent in circulating in the operating room during surgical procedures. Knowledgeable in and applies principles of aseptic technique consistently. Capable of safely operating all equipment routinely utilized in the operating room. Prepares patients for surgery, including proper anatomical positioning. Performs pre, intra, and post-procedure patient care planning and assessment following established criteria. Handles and disposes of biohazardous materials from operative procedures safely. Accesses facility information systems to retrieve and utilize pertinent information for patient care or job responsibilities. Demonstrates knowledge and skills related to patient safety, security, emergency preparedness, and medical equipment as outlined in the facility's environment of care plan. Documents temperature of tissue and verifies package integrity as needed. Utilizes downtime efficiently for job-related work, including chart auditing, cleaning, and training modules. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
