Job Summary Set up and maintain the condition of the department according to company standards. Consistently provide friendly, courteous customer service to internal and external customers. Ensure product quality and selection. Perform other related work. Generally work 6‑8 hour shifts between 4:00 am and 11:00 pm. Typical Duties And Responsibilities Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers, maintaining an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic service. Maintain a customer‑aware atmosphere, engaging customers and responding promptly to concerns, including product replacements, returns, refunds, and locating items. Perform receiving duties: verify orders against invoices, report shortages and claims, break down loads, date product, cut cases, stack, price, and mark merchandise, and maintain the produce storage area. Ensure proper merchandising for freshness and quality, handling products to minimize damage and spoilage; build displays, rotate stock, discard outdated or spoiled items, ensure proper pricing and labeling, and use related equipment such as box cutters, cardboard, trash compactors, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklift. Maintain cleanliness and eye‑appeal of work area, storage area, and selling floor. Ensure a safe and secure work environment. Perform duties with honesty and integrity. Perform other duties as assigned or needed. Requirements Experience Perform basic math (add, subtract, divide, and multiply) and compute weights and measures. Ability To Work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including night, weekends, and holidays. Conduct visual inspection of product and display, read written material, etc. Communicate in writing to others. Reach, lift, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to 50 lb. frequently. Push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks. Stand for long periods, walk and move rapidly, bend, twist, and turn frequently. Perform safe and quick movements and operate related equipment with manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Work with hands exposed to ice, moisture, fruits and vegetables. Learn proper handling, preparation, seasonality, perishability, product safety, sanitation procedures, and department policies. Wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other PPE as required. Must be 16 years of age or older. Perform primary duties efficiently and accurately. Additional Requirements Food Handlers Certification (per state laws). Machines And Equipment Operated Tools and equipment include knives, wrappers, scales, compactors, garbage disposals, hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklift, and ladder. For minors hired, hours may differ as well as machines and equipment operated.
