What the Job Actually Is

You own dry van shipments from the initial request through successful delivery. Quote it, find capacity, negotiate the rate, book the truck, track the freight, communicate with everyone involved, and handle the problems that come up along the way. Because they will. A truck breaks down. A driver runs late. A receiver closes at 5:00 and your truck is two hours out. The market moves against you. A carrier suddenly wants another $300. A customer needs an answer now.

How you respond in those moments is the job. The best coordinators don't wait for someone else to solve the problem. They get on the phone, figure out what's actually happening, work through the options, communicate, and keep the freight moving.

Around here, we call that staying ahead of the freight. Our customers shouldn't have to call us to find out about a problem we already knew about.

There's a commercial side to the job too. The carrier you choose and the rate you negotiate both matter. Service is critical, but every load also carries a margin. You'll have the trust and responsibility to balance service, risk, and profitability. We want people who can make good decisions, not just follow a script.

What You'll Be Doing

• Managing dry van shipments from quote through final delivery
• Reading the freight market and developing competitive pricing
• Sourcing capacity and negotiating carrier rates
• Booking, dispatching, and managing carriers
• Selecting carriers based on service, price, risk, and what the load requires
• Quoting dry van FTL, expedited, and partial truckload when needed
• Bidding on customer transportation portals
• Tracking proactively and communicating issues before the customer asks
• Working directly with customers, carriers, freight forwarders, sales, and operations
• Resolving problems while protecting both the customer relationship and our margin
• Expanding into additional modes and responsibilities as opportunities develop

Who We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate has 2+ years of hands-on dry van brokerage experience and is comfortable reading the market, sourcing capacity, negotiating rates, and handling freight when the original plan stops being the plan. We'll consider someone with less tenure if they can demonstrate real market knowledge, negotiation skills, urgency, and ownership. Experience tells us you know freight. We're looking for someone who:

• Gets bothered when details are wrong
• Responds to a problem by figuring out how to fix it
• Wants responsibility and wants their performance to matter
• Experience with expedited, partial truckload, or additional transportation modes is a plus.

Training & Hybrid

You'll spend at least your first month with our team in the Spring office. Even with freight experience, there's plenty to learn about our customers, systems, carrier network, and how we operate.

Once you've shown that you can independently manage your freight, communicate well, stay organized, and perform consistently, you'll be eligible for a hybrid schedule. Hybrid isn't based on hitting a certain date.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
