The position can be structured around the candidate's technical capabilities, professional licensure, aviation experience, and readiness to assume greater project and client leadership responsibilities.\nThis role offers exposure to the complete project lifecycle, including civil design, technical production, project coordination, permitting, construction administration, field support, and client interaction. The strongest fit will be a self-starter who takes ownership of assignments, communicates proactively, identifies potential project challenges, and wants to develop into a stronger technical and project leader.\nAID provides the opportunity to work on highly visible aviation infrastructure throughout Florida, the United States, and the Caribbean, while developing specialized expertise in airport and airfield engineering.\nCore Responsibilities\n\n Prepare and oversee civil engineering designs, calculations, plans, specifications, reports, and technical documentation\n Use Autodesk Civil 3D to develop and review surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, grading plans, pipe networks, utility layouts, and construction documents\n Perform or oversee civil design for runways, taxiways, aircraft aprons, airport access roads, parking areas, and associated aviation infrastructure\n Prepare grading, drainage, stormwater, earthwork, erosion-control, utility, and site-development designs\n Develop construction plan sets, technical specifications, engineering reports, quantity calculations, and construction cost estimates\n Evaluate design alternatives and recommend practical, cost-effective engineering solutions\n Coordinate civil improvements with airport facilities, utilities, architecture, aviation planning, construction, and operational requirements\n Apply applicable FAA, FDOT, municipal, county, environmental, and airport-specific design standards\n Participate in technical reviews and AID's formal quality-assurance and quality-control processes\n Review work prepared by junior engineers, designers, and CAD professionals\n Ensure technical deliverables are accurate, complete, and submitted according to project schedules\n Coordinate with architects, aviation planners, engineers, surveyors, environmental professionals, contractors, and airport representatives\n Lead portions of civil and aviation infrastructure projects based on experience\n Assign and coordinate work with junior engineers and designers\n Assist project managers with scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client-delivery responsibilities\n Monitor project progress and communicate potential schedule, budget, and technical concerns\n Participate in project meetings, design workshops, client presentations, and coordination discussions\n Build and maintain productive relationships with clients, agencies, contractors, and project partners\n Support proposal preparation, project pursuits, and business-development activities when appropriate\n Mentor less-experienced engineers and contribute to their technical development\n Prepare or oversee permit applications and supporting technical documentation\n Coordinate with municipal, county, state, and federal agencies\n Support FAA, FDOT, environmental, and local permitting requirements\n Respond to agency review comments and revise construction documents as required\n Participate in preconstruction meetings, site visits, field investigations, and construction observations\n Review shop drawings, contractor submittals, product data, and material certifications\n Respond to requests for information and contractor questions\n Review proposed design changes and assist with resolving construction conflicts\n Support pay-application reviews, quantity verification, and change-order evaluation when required\n Participate in substantial-completion inspections, punch-list development, and project closeout\n Support construction phasing within active and operational airport environments\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\n Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university\n Experience: Approximately 5–15 years of relevant civil engineering, site-development, transportation, or infrastructure design experience\n Software: Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D\n Civil Design: Experience preparing civil construction plans and technical design documents\n Infrastructure: Experience with grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, pavement, site development, roadway, or related civil infrastructure\n Technical Knowledge: Ability to interpret surveys, geotechnical information, design criteria, specifications, and construction documents\n Project Coordination: Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams\n Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of civil permitting and regulatory requirements\n Communication: Strong written and verbal communication
