Job Overview Senior Systems Engineer – MedTechLocation: Cincinnati, OH (Hybrid schedule: 3 days on‑site)Johnson & Johnson is a global leader in healthcare innovation, focused on creating smarter, less invasive and personalized treatments. The Senior Systems Engineer will play a central role in developing the next generation of surgical robotics, balancing technical excellence with business and customer needs. Responsibilities Define requirements, verification test strategies, and risk‑management deliverables for subsystems of a complex electro‑mechanical device. Guide the team through trade‑off decisions, balancing customer and business benefit with technical complexity, safety, effectiveness, schedule risk and other factors. Understand customer and business needs, align multi‑functional R&D teams, and lead effective communication (written and verbal). Key contributor with engineering teams to plan and de‑risk remaining development work, considering key interactions and interfaces. Help define and refine Systems Engineering processes and practices. Collaborate with internal and external technical experts on controls development and documentation (e.g., software requirements and design specifications). Ensure completeness and quality of design controls and documentation for instruments and accessories of the J&J Robotic Surgery System. Qualifications and Requirements Minimum bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Biomedical), Computer Science, or related field. Minimum four years of related engineering experience. Proven leadership and collaboration across organizational boundaries. Working knowledge of system‑level requirements and risk‑management tools. Experience developing product requirements and test methods. Proven success within quality management systems. Ability to partition and decompose complex engineering problems. Travel up to 10% (domestic and/or international). Prefer prior experience in systems engineering, surgical devices or regulated industry. Prefer experience with ISO14971, Agile development, JAMA or similar requirements tools. Preferred Skills Analytical reasoning, coaching, model‑based systems engineering (MBSE), and process orientation. Product design, requirements analysis, research and development. SAP Product Lifecycle Management, scripting languages, and SDLC (software development life cycle). Software development management, engineering practices, and testing. Systems development lifecycle, technical credibility, and technological savvy. Compensation and Benefits Anticipated base pay range: $92,000.00 – $148,350.00.
