Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical/Telemetry position in Wichita, KS, requiring a minimum of 1 year of acute care telemetry experience and active KS or compact RN license.

Details

• Located on the 3rd floor Surgical/Telemetry unit of a hospital in Wichita, KS
• 37-bed unit staffed with 8 RNs, 3 Patient Care Techs, and 1 Unit Clerk per day shift; 8 RNs and 3 Patient Care Techs per night shift
• Patient ratio is 1:6, with a 1:4 ratio for Heart Cath recovery patients
• Patient population includes surgical and telemetry patients, including Heart Cath recovery
• Common procedures include central lines, medication drips, Heart Cath recovery, and bubble studies
• Equipment used includes PCA pumps, IV pumps, and chest tubes
• EMR: Meditech (prior experience preferred)
• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license for Kansas (KS) or a compact license currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for Telemetry RNs
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care telemetry experience required
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Prior experience traveling to large teaching facilities is preferred
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• Ideal candidates are positive, engaged, independent, and demonstrate strong critical thinking skills
• One professional reference required (two references required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)
