Job Summary The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care activities during the patient’s hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines utilizing a patient/customer‑driven approach. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive nursing assessment, reassessment, and documentation, including age‑appropriate admission or transfer assessments, post‑operative assessments, and ongoing patient care documentation. Establish, coordinate and evaluate a plan of care based on assessment data, diagnosis, laboratory results, physician orders, and evidence‑based protocols. Provide and document nursing interventions, coordinating with the health‑team for daily care planning, medication administration, IV therapy, referrals, and patient/family education. Document and communicate patient condition changes, evaluate care effectiveness, and modify plans of care as needed. Provide specialized high‑risk care: Restraint Care – initiate alternatives, apply restraints per protocol, monitor responses, provide required care, and document use. Pain Management – assess pain, incorporate cultural beliefs, implement prevention‑focused techniques, and involve patients/families in plan creation. Abuse Assessment – recognize abuse criteria, report findings to appropriate authorities, and take protective actions. Demonstrate professional practice accountability: adhere to quality standards, engage in continuous learning, maintain certifications, and participate in committees. Maintain safety and infection control: practice standard precautions, manage hazardous waste, ensure therapeutic environment, and comply with hand hygiene and safe patient handling. Deliver service excellence: provide courteous, respectful care, respond promptly to patient needs, maintain confidentiality, and use AIDET principles. Integrate performance improvement: assist in developing unit goals, participate in improvement projects, and contribute to data collection and evaluation. Provide age‑appropriate care for adult and geriatric patients, assessing developmental needs and involving families in decision‑making. Deliver cost‑effective services by prioritizing responsibilities, minimizing waste, and documenting chargeable supplies. Qualifications Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Missouri. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Current knowledge of hospital policies, protocols, and evidence‑based practices. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members. Proficiency in medication administration, IV therapy, and documentation systems. Experience in high‑risk or specialized care settings preferred. Job Specifications Working Conditions: Exposure to blood‑borne diseases, unpleasant environments, emergencies, irregular hours, and unpredictable situations. Physical Requirements: Occasional prolonged standing/walking, lifting and transferring patients, reaching, stooping, and kneeling.
