About This Role
The Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. This requires an understanding of children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to create a safe and stimulating environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. Effective communication with children and adults is essential to meet the needs of the children, guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns.
What You'll Do- Develop and implement educational curriculum by planning engaging classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
- Lead by example and encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
- Design and implement individual and group age-appropriate activities to foster social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
- Maintain regular communication with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Ensure adherence to all center policies and state regulations.
- Establish and maintain a healthy classroom environment, including hygiene, cleanliness, safety, and security standards.
- Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they follow planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.
- Develop a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, and basic computer skills are required.
- Able to work with high energy and in a team environment (staff, children, and parents) to foster a collaborative atmosphere.
- A strong understanding of child development is essential.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification are mandatory.
- SIDS/AHT certification is also required.
- A successful candidate must clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
- Associate's Degree in early childhood education or a related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in ECE is required.
- Must be able to perform frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at various levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
- A specific vision ability is necessary, including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
An Associate's degree in Childhood Education or a related field is a plus.
