Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery PA Topeka, KS (Active KS License) Why This Role Ongoing coverage with a two-week-per-month commitment Defined September and October coverage blocks Inpatient, outpatient, surgical, and call responsibilities Epic EMR Assignment Details Start Date: ASAP End Date: Ongoing Commitment: Approximately two weeks per month Current Coverage Dates: - September 25 Äì27, 2026 - October 30 ÄìNovember 1, 2026 - Additional dates expected Setting: Inpatient and outpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours plus beeper call Call: Coverage for assigned patients, seven days weekly during assigned blocks Response Time: 30 minutes Callback Activity: Approximately 50% Patient Volume: - Outpatient: Approximately 6 Äì10 patients - Inpatient: Approximately 2 Äì10 patients weekly Department: 17-bed ICU Admissions: Variable EMR: Epic Credentialing: Expedited processing may be available Temporary Privileges: Available Nearest Airport: Kansas City International Airport Lodging Recommendation: Hilton Garden Inn in Topeka Requirements Physician Assistant with Cardiothoracic Surgery experience Active Kansas PA license Current ACLS and BLS Hospital privileges Independent endoscopic vein-harvesting proficiency Experience using the Maquet VasoView system Availability for approximately two weeks per month Ability to provide clinical coverage and beeper call Ability to supervise APPs as required Clinical Details Independently perform endoscopic vein harvesting Provide perioperative Cardiothoracic Surgery support Round on assigned postoperative and ICU patients Evaluate outpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery patients Assist with admissions and inpatient management Participate in beeper call with a 30-minute response time Collaborate with two APPs, one RN, and one MA No resident or teaching supervision required
