Job Description

The Manager, Learning Experience Design & Innovation leads the strategy, design, and continuous improvement of enterprise learning programs that build workforce capability and support business growth. This role oversees a team of instructional designers and drives the development of engaging, scalable, and learner-centered training solutions aligned with organizational goals.

Leveraging modern learning technologies, AI-enabled tools, and data-driven insights, the Manager creates innovative learning experiences that enhance employee development, improve performance, and support organizational change. As a strategic partner, this leader collaborates across the business to identify capability needs, measure learning impact, and foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and growth.

Essential Functions

• Digital Learning Strategy & Transformation:
  • In partnership with the Learning, Culture, and Engagement senior leadership team, develop and execute an enterprise digital learning strategy aligned with cooperative principles, organizational goals, and workforce development priorities.
  • Lead large-scale learning transformation initiatives (including LMS modernization, ecosystem integration, and content migration) with a focus on seamless, channel-agnostic learner experiences.
  • Evaluate emerging learning technologies, AI-enabled solutions, and digital tools in collaboration with the Systems & Tools Instructional Designer, leveraging an agile approach to enhance accessibility, personalization, learner engagement, and business outcomes.
  • Establish and continuously improve governance standards, best practices, and frameworks for instructional design, content management, learning technologies, and learning analytics, with a focus on inclusion, accessibility, and quality.
  • Partner with LCE leadership and business stakeholders to identify organizational capability gaps and design integrated learning solutions that support strategic priorities, workforce readiness, and organizational change.
  • Champion innovative learning approaches, including virtual reality, microlearning, performance support, social learning, and other emerging methodologies, to enhance learner effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
• Team Leadership & Talent Development:
  • Lead, coach, develop, and evaluate a team of instructional designers, fostering individual growth, high performance, and continuous learning through active listening, curiosity, and personalized support.
  • Establish and communicate individual and team goals aligned with organizational priorities, promoting trust, transparency, accountability, and shared ownership of results.
  • Cultivate a positive, inclusive team culture that encourages belonging, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement while creating an environment where team members feel safe to experiment, learn, and grow.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship in instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, learner experience design, project management, and consulting skills to strengthen team capabilities and business impact.
• Instructional Design & Content Governance:
  • Oversee the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of digital learning experiences, ensuring members and team members feel seen, respected, and understood.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, regulatory compliance, and alignment of all learning content with organizational standards, brand guidelines, and ethical principles.
  • Drive instructional design excellence utilizing evidence-based learning science, adult learning theory, and learner-centered design principles that reflect tangible care.
  • Establish content lifecycle management practices-including review schedules, content audits, and retirement strategies-to maintain operational consistency and reliability.
  • Advocate for the learner by ensuring compliance training and regulatory content are delivered with clarity, care, and practical relevance.
• Learning Technology & Operations:
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for learning technologies, including the learning management system (LMS), learning experience platform (LXP), authoring tools, and assessment platforms, ensuring solutions support organizational goals and evolving learner needs.
  • Partner with internal technology teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to optimize system integrations, reporting capabilities, platform performance, and user experiences.
  • Lead learning technology roadmaps, vendor management, implementation projects, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize the effectiveness and adoption of learning platforms.
  • Ensure learning systems and technologies meet requirements for scalability, security, accessibility, compliance, data integrity, and governance.
  • Monitor learning technology performance, utilization, and learner analytics to identify opportunities for enhancement and inform strategic decision-making.
• Measurement & Continuous Improvement:
  • Develop and maintain learning metrics, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate learning effectiveness, learner adoption, engagement, and return on investment (ROI).
  • Analyze learner feedback, performance data, and learning analytics to identify trends, measure impact, and drive continuous improvement of learning programs, experiences, and technologies.
  • Present actionable insights, outcomes, and data-driven recommendations to senior leaders and stakeholders to inform decision-making and support organizational priorities.
  • Lead evaluation strategies that connect learning outcomes to employee performance, organizational effectiveness, member experience, and community impact.
• Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Wings policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position:

• REQUIRED:  Bachelor's Degree Education, Organizational Development, Learning Technologies, Human Resources Development, Communications, Business, or a related field.
• REQUIRED: 5+ years' combined experience in developing and/or presenting training courses oriented towards adult learning and/or financial services general retail operations.
• REQUIRED: 3+ years' team leadership or supervisory experience.
• REQUIRED:  Demonstrated success managing multiple complex projects, cross-functional partnerships, and stakeholder relationships .
• Preferred: Experience leading enterprise digital learning initiatives, technology implementations, and organizational change or transformation efforts .
• Preferred:  Experience with learning analytics, data-driven decision-making, and managing modern LMS/LXP learning ecosystems .
• Preferred:  Financial services, credit union, or highly regulated industry experience; a deep understanding of cooperative principles and prioritizing member benefit over profit .

Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

• Strong leadership and people development capabilities; ability to lead with heart, cultivate inclusion, and foster a culture of belonging.
• Deep expertise in adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, and learner experience design, with the ability to align learning initiatives to human and business outcomes.
• A solution-oriented, bold mindset comfortable with experimenting, reflecting, and adapting digital learning ecosystems using AI, automation, and emerging trends.
• Exceptional consulting, influencing, and stakeholder management skills; a proven track record of breaking down silos, valuing all perspectives, and building cross-functional unity.

• Strong analytical, project, portfolio, and change management capabilities, with a dedication to measuring success by its impact on members, team members, and the community.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, modeled through trust, transparency, and clarity
• Deep knowledge of accessibility standards ($WCAG/508$), copyright considerations, and equitable content governance practices.

Certifications Required:

• REQUIRED:  Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
• PREFERRED : Formal training certifications or teaching license
• PREFERRED:  Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, or other similar certifications

Additional Information

PAY RANGE: $111,500 to $130,000 Annually (S17), plus 15% annual target bonus.

Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, certifications, location and internal pay equity.
