Information Security/Privacy Analyst I

CIOCC Tier 1 Cyber Security Analyst Location: Rockville, MD - Hybrid Onsite Shift: Targeting 2nd Shift (12:00 PM-10:00 PM) or 3rd Shift (8:00 PM-6:00 AM), based on staffing needs Pay: $42/hr Contract: 7 months to start Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain required agency clearance Overview We are seeking a CIOCC Tier 1 Cyber Security Analyst to support day-to-day Security Operations Center activities. This individual will monitor, analyze, triage, and respond to security events generated from SIEM platforms, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint security technologies, Network Access Control solutions, and other client data sources. This is a strong opportunity for an early-career cybersecurity professional with SOC experience or a recent graduate with relevant industry certifications. Key Responsibilities Monitor and analyze security events and incidents from multiple security platforms Perform initial triage and investigation of potential cybersecurity incidents Analyze events from SIEM platforms, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint security solutions, and NAC technologies Review security logs to identify suspicious or malicious activity Escalate incidents requiring additional investigation or response Document findings, actions, and technical details clearly Support security monitoring across Windows, Linux, and UNIX environments Perform IDS log analysis Analyze packet captures and network traffic where required Apply knowledge of common network protocols and services during investigations Communicate technical findings clearly to team members and stakeholders Required Qualifications 1-3 years of Security Operations Center experience OR Recent college graduate with relevant cybersecurity certifications Experience working with Windows, Linux, and/or UNIX Experience with Splunk or a comparable SIEM platform Understanding of cybersecurity monitoring and incident analysis Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to clearly communicate technical information U.S. Citizenship required Must be able to obtain and maintain required agency clearance Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift based on staffing requirements Preferred Qualifications IDS log analysis experience Packet capture and traffic-analysis experience Knowledge of common network protocols and services, including: FTP SSH SMB DAP Preferred Certifications CSIS CEH CSTA CSTP GCFE
