The Mount Sinai Health System is currently seeking a compassionate Internist to join an outpatient multi-specialty practice in Central Harlem at West 124th Street!

With its rich cultural history, historic brownstones, and legendary music and culinary scenes, Central Harlem is one of New York City's most vibrant and storied neighborhoods. At the Mount Sinai‑Harlem Health Center at 158 West 124th Street, this brand‑new, state‑of‑the‑art facility combines a complete range of health services, consolidating primary care, specialized medicine, and comprehensive behavioral health programs into a single outpatient location.

The ideal candidate will provide high‑quality primary care services to adults, play an instrumental role in ensuring excellent patient care, quality outcomes, and satisfaction, and have a passion for outpatient medicine fully committed to the mission of Mount Sinai Health System.

The chosen candidates will have the opportunity to partner with the world‑renowned Icahn School of Medicine. Mount Sinai’s Department of Medicine places special emphasis on patient‑centered care, pursuing an integrated approach to patient care, research, and education, recognizing the inseparable nature of these components.

Responsibilities

• The candidate will contribute to the highest quality standards of the clinical practice and its financial solvency.
• The candidate must maintain New York State licensure and compliance with continuing education requirements, patient care operations (charting, performing tests and communicating results in a timely manner, prescription medication management, visit throughput), use of facilities, and annual goals and objectives.
• Provides acute/urgent care of emergent/acute illnesses and injuries, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.
• Provides medical services to the patients of the clinic, inclusive of all functions necessary to provide quality medical care.
• Sees patients in a timely and efficient manner, staying reasonably on time for scheduled appointments throughout the day, unless exceptional circumstances occur.
• Diagnoses and provides medical treatment.
• Formulates treatment plans.
• Manages short‑ and long‑term conditions.
• Performs complete and focused physical exams.
• Provides patients and family members with counseling and education regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and the need for follow up as appropriate during each patient visit.
• Verifies and documents that the patient understands the diagnosis, treatment and follow up recommendations.
• Facilitates patient access to medical care by recommending appropriate referrals to other health care providers.
• Maintains and submits timely and appropriate medical records and billing codes.
• Charting in the patient’s medical record is routinely completed on the same day as the patient's visit.
• Complies with all HIPAA rules and regulations.
• Practices sound medical judgment and adheres to all ethical considerations of the practice of medicine; keeps abreast of current technologies and industry standards.
• Continually advises administration of any issues that may impact the practice.
• Physicians must be flexible, adapt to change, and serve as a role model for staff.

These duties, and the location where services are provided, may be modified from time to time at the discretion of your Chair and/or Division Chief based on departmental or institutional needs.

A. Supports the Division, as requested, in Quality Assurance, Patient Satisfaction, Patient Safety and other initiatives.

B. Participates in regularly scheduled learning and professional community activities of the Division and Department.

Division of General Internal Medicine Conferences

• Weekly (during regular academic year) MSSLW Department of Medicine Grand Rounds.
• Attends Medical Board Meeting at least twice a year.
• Participates in Divisional Quality Assurance Projects.

C. Will provide teaching and supervision to interns, residents and students caring for patients in the MSMS‑W DOM Internal Medicine Residency Program continuity clinics housed in the William F. Ryan Community Health Network (Ryan Health) for five‑hour sessions weekly.

• Provides appropriate and regular feedback, both written and verbal, to trainees with respect to the ACGME six core competencies.
• Participates in the Internal Medicine Residency Program Residency Review Committee (RRC) meetings.
• Provides mentorship to trainees.

D. Fulfills the obligations of Program Site Director for Ryan Health at West 97th Street, executing various tasks and responsibilities associated with overseeing and managing the site for the MSM‑W DOM Residency Program.

E. Collaborates with other staff in educational activities.

F. Performs other duties as assigned and consistent with core professional skills, training and attributes.

Qualifications

• Medical degree from an accredited university.
• New York medical license.
• Board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine.
• Some experience preferred; new trainees are welcome to apply.

• Excellent communication, bedside manner, and organizational skills.
• Strong work ethic and desire to participate in a team‑oriented, performance‑driven Health System.

Compensation

Compensation range from $225,000 to $245,000 (not including bonuses/incentive compensation or benefits).

Mount Sinai Health System provides a salary range to comply with the New York City law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, historical collections, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range. The salary range listed is for full‑time employment and does not include bonuses/incentive compensation or benefits.
