Polysomnography Technologist - Sleep Lab- Lourdes

Job Description Currently offering $10,000 Sign-on Bonus! Performs all night sleep studies, Multiple Sleep Latency Testing, Maintenance of Wakefulness Test, scores sleep studies, and assists in training and orientation of new employees and PSG trainees. Responsibilities Perform Multiple Sleep Latency Testing, Maintenance of Wakefulness Test, and other types of sleep studies as ordered by physician. Calibrate monitors and accessory parameters prior to sleep study. Administer CPAP to patients with OSA according to policy and procedure. Follow oxygen administration according to policy. Analyze patient medical records to obtain an informative history. Set up patients for tests using 10/20 International System electrode placement. Instruct and inform patient of test procedure. Assist with maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Maintain department records, reports, and files as required. Be certified in basic CPR. Emphasize abnormalities during procedures. Recognize sleep stages on MSLT and polysomnogram. Identify respiratory events and other abnormalities on sleep study. Score sleep studies and MSLTs using R&K criteria. Assist director with support groups and public education in sleep disorders. Demonstrate critical thinking, attention to detail, and accuracy. Work in case management role for policy and procedure development, inventory assessment, staff development, and supporting physicians. Consistently perform 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values, Service, and Quality. Qualifications Experience : Formal training in Polysomnography with at least 2 years clinical experience in a sleep center setting; knowledge and experience in Electroencephalography and Respiratory Therapy. Education : High school graduate or equivalent. Special Skills : Complete technical knowledge of amplifiers, linear frequency filters, and accessory monitors (nasal/oral respiration, effort monitors, pressure transducer airflow system, oximeter); familiarity with digital acquisition systems; highly skilled in recognizing and identifying waveforms & abnormalities in Sleep Disorders. Licensure : Registry by The American Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) and Licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners in Polysomnography. Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) with at least 2 years experience performing clinical polysomnography are exempt from needing a state license in polysomnography by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners provided their Louisiana license as an RRT is current and in good standing; however, they must be Registered in Polysomnography by the BRPT or hold the SDS (Sleep Disorders Specialist) Credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
