Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Endoscopy/Gastrointestinal (GI)

Location: Ithaca, New York 14850

Shift: Days

Pay Rate: $56/hr

Start Date: ASAP

Hours: 40 hours per week (8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday)
- 1 overnight call every week
- Weekend call every 4th week (Friday/Saturday/Sunday)

Duration: 13-week contract

Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Endoscopy/Gastrointestinal (GI) team in Ithaca, New York, for a 13-week contract position. The RN in this role will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures and gastrointestinal interventions.

Responsibilities:

• Perform pre-procedure assessments and screenings to ensure patient readiness for endoscopic procedures.
• Assist with the preparation of patients for endoscopy procedures, including administering medications, starting intravenous lines, and monitoring vital signs.
• Provide direct patient care during endoscopic procedures, including assisting the physician with equipment setup, monitoring patient status, and documenting procedure findings.
• Monitor patients post-procedure, assessing for any adverse reactions or complications, and providing appropriate interventions as needed.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.
• Educate patients and their families about the procedure, expected outcomes, and post-procedure care instructions.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in endoscopy or gastrointestinal nursing.
• Current certifications in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale).
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Flexibility to work occasional overnight and weekend call shifts as required.
