Construction Specialist (TRAVELING)

Job Overview Perimeter Security Partners is looking for a motivated Traveling Construction Specialist with strong construction experience to install and repair security bollards, active and passive vehicle barrier equipment, security fencing and personnel gates throughout the United States. This role performs work outdoors in support of governmental, military, industrial, and commercial clients. Responsibilities Execute construction tasks with a variety of hand tools including shovels, picks, screwdrivers, wrenches, saws, drills, and pry bars. Operate powered equipment such as skid steers, boom forklifts, trenchers, concrete saws, and mini excavators. Work cooperatively with other specialists to accomplish daily work plans. Saw cut and demolish existing concrete and asphalt, excavate earth, set and brace barrier/fence equipment, place and finish concrete, and assemble gates, fences, and barriers. Maintain safety standards and use personal protective equipment. Unload material to job sites, set and remove traffic control devices, erosion control devices, and temporary fences as required. Excavate, backfill, grade, and compact sites to meet design criteria. Conduct inspections of equipment, tools, and vehicles before use. Clean and maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials. Drive company trucks to and from job sites. Requirements Minimum three years of experience as a construction tradesperson. Valid driver’s license and ability to work in the United States without sponsorship. Pass background check and drug test to access military installations and controlled areas. Experience operating powered equipment and installing security fencing and gates is preferred. Experience placing and finishing reinforced concrete is preferred. Bi‑lingual (Spanish) is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to lift at least 50 pounds to waist level. Must stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and have full use of hands, fingers, and arms. Must work outdoors up to 60 hours per week in various weather conditions. Travel & Location 85% or more travel, typically for two (2) to three (3) weeks at a time to project sites across the United States. Additional Information Employee will receive a company credit card for approved expenses (hotel, fuel, tools, and materials). A fixed per diem compensates for meals and expenses. Hands‑on and other training opportunities are available to augment skills and increase proficiency with a wide variety of physical security infrastructure equipment. Benefits Full‑time hourly position ($25–$29 per hour based on experience, with ample overtime). 80% of work performed on Federal job sites with higher wage based on location.
