Floor Technician - Univ of the Incarnate Word Facilities

Job Description

The Floor Technician is responsible for floor maintenance, restoration, and the operation of industrial floor care equipment in assigned location(s). Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.

Work Hours - 6 am-3:30 pm

Job Responsibilities

• Perform routine and periodic floor care services including stripping, waxing, sealing, buffing, burnishing, and refinishing of hard surface floors.
  • Clean and maintain carpeted areas through shampooing, extraction, spot cleaning, and interim maintenance.
  • Properly mix, dilute, and apply floor care chemicals according to manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Operate floor care equipment such as auto scrubbers, swing machines, burnishers, buffers, extractors, and wet/dry vacuums.
  • Ensure floors are safe, clean, dry, and presentable, using wet floor signage and barriers as required.
  • Inspect floors regularly to identify damage, wear, or safety hazards and report concerns to supervision.
  • Follow all safety, PPE, and chemical handling procedures, including MSDS/SDS compliance.
  • Maintain assigned equipment by cleaning, inspecting, and reporting mechanical issues promptly.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to meet scheduled projects and service deadlines, including evenings, weekends, or special events as required.
  • Support overall custodial operations by assisting with general cleaning duties when needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a floor care technician or in related role and knowledge of floor care equipment and use is preferred.
• Must be able to read and write to facilitate proper communication with others and be able to perform simple mathematical calculations.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
